2017 Ford GT Overview

Next year there’s a big anniversary for Ford and its GT model. It is going to be exactly 50 years since historic GT40 model triumphed at 24 Hours of Le Mans race, and taken the next three titles in the row. This is the right reason for celebration, and how else would Ford celebrate such an anniversary than by releasing a brand new GT model.

New GT is going to come with tones of hi tech and futurism combined with some retro details. It will come with feather light body and one of the most powerful V8 engines ever produced by this manufacturer.

2017 Ford GT Exterior Styling

This is going to be one of the meanest looking vehicles in the Ford range, maybe even meaner than the 2016 Shelby Mustang GT350R which is going to be promoted on 2015 North American International Auto Show, same as this model. In the front it comes with large carbon-fiber splitter, air duct, mesh inserts, two huge vents and full LED headlights. Its profile looks sleek and comes with low slung design, similar to the old Ferrari GT40 with who the sixties Ford GT40 was influenced by.

In the back it comes with two large exhaust tips and active spoiler and really big diffuser. All this adds a lot on the overall aggressiveness of this vehicle making angry from the front to the back. Cabin is made out of carbon-fiber and aluminum sub-frames, which adds up a lot on the fuel efficiency and speed of this vehicle.

Its cabin is accessible, since its doors are opened upwards. Cockpit design and flat steering wheel looks like it came directly from Formula 1. There’s also a fully digital instrument cluster and light carbon-fiber dashboard. Seats are comfortable and supportive, but since they are directly integrated to the carbon-fiber-aluminum cabin they canćt be adjusted or moved to the front and back. Solution for this is the ability of Ford GT’s computer to adjust the twin-spoke flat bottomed steering wheel and pedals. This kind of setup was installed for the first time in any vehicle from the Ford range and in the world only Ferrari LaFerrari has similar setup system.  From hi tech features new GT comes with the modern Sync 3 infotainment system.

2017 Ford GT Engine

New model is powered by mid-mounted twin turbocharged 3,5 liter EcoBoost engine that is able to produce more than 600 horsepower, although official specs haven’t been out yet. This engine is combined with seven speed dual clutch transaxle that also sends power to the rear wheels. New model also has big ceramic brakes and 20 inch shiny alloy wheels.

2017 Ford GT Release Date

This model will probably go on sale in the mid 2016 since Ford will probably wait for the 50 years anniversary of GT40’s Le Man victory to promote this vehicle across American and world’s showrooms.
