2016 Buick Avenir Concept Overview
This concept version is the flashiest and most elegant vehicle that came from Buick in the last decade, since the previous models were mostly rebadged Opels. This is an attempt to establish Buick as the worldwide brand similar to Chevy and this concept comes with a lot of European influences although when it comes to platform it is being quite original and it doesn’t share it with any other vehicle from Buick or Opel range. There are more new stuff like rear wheel drive and new futuristic shape, as well as the strange name, that will only be the name of the concept, not production version. “Avenir” is the French word for future.
2016 Buick Avenir Exterior Styling
We mentioned the futuristic shape of this vehicle and a lot of European influences. It was designed by team of Australian designers lead by Warrack Leach, and it looks a lot a like hatchback, although being fitted into the sedan format. It comes with coupe upper, which is integrated into the boattail decklid. It also has rounded rear, something that totally comes with hatchback vehicles, and it is the idea that came directly from the chief designer Leach. A much as rear end being futuristic, in the same amount the front and adds up influences of classic Buick, with its traditional looking grille. Profile also looks like some older models of this manufacturer with the scallop running from the front wheel to the rear doors.

We don’t know much about interior features of this concept, but as much as we could saw this vehicle comes with some luxurious and elegant interior styling. It comes with four separate bucket seats, which are very comfortable, adjustable and supportive. There’s also a practical full length central console and the whole interior is build with the sweeping design motif.
2016 Buick Avenir Concept Engine and Performance
Until now we only know that the new vehicle comes with powerful V6 engine with cylinder deactivation and auto stop/start and that this engine will be combined with nine speed automatic transmission system with paddle shifters. It is also going to come with 21 inch wheels, but we are not sure that production version is going to look all that.
2016 Buick Avenir Concept Name
We also don’t know how production version is going to be named, since Buick usually gives different names to their concept vehicle, and Avenir is tightly connected with this concept in terms of futuristic design. New vehicle might even be named the new Rivera, but we need to wait and see for ourselves.
