2016 Buick Cascada Overview

This is the first Buick convertible, since the beginning of the nineties, its design came directly from European Opel, and it is based on its popular Astra platform. This vehicle is a four seater and it is completely the same as the Opel model (which also comes under Cascada nameplate), with just a slight boost in engine output for the American market. This model is presented for the first time on 2015 North American International Auto Show.

2016 Buick Cascada Exterior Styling

This vehicle is also the sibling of Buick Verano, since both of these vehicles are based on the same Astra platform. Although this convertible doesn’t share any body panels with Verano. It is also one inch longer and has longer wheelbase and wider body. New model rolls on 20 inch alloy wheels.

Comparing to other vehicles this convertible can be slotted somewhere in between Chrysler 200 convertible and VW Eos. It comes with a fabric roof, which gives much more space in the trunk when folded than hard top.

When it comes to interior space this vehicle looks much more like Chrysler 200 than the EOS. Its back seat can accommodate two adults and it front seats are comfortable and can be moved front and back. Front seat also comes with heaters and leather upholstery. Rear seat can be folded which drastically increases the trunk space.

Trunk space with the rear seats up is rated at the 13,9 cubic feat when the roof is up and 9,8 cubic feet when the roof is down. Roof needs 17 seconds to fold down which can be done while driving at 31 mph speed.

2016 Buick Cascada Engine, Performance etc

Buick Cascada comes with the same 1,6 liter turbo four cylinder engine, unlike the one from Opel Cascada this engine is able to produce 200 horsepower, while the engine from Opel can go up to 197. It comes with 206 pound feet of torque or 221 with overboost. This engine is paired with six speed automatic transmission and it comes with the popular HiPer Strout front suspension built by General Motors which helps to ease torque stir.
