2016 Scion FR-S Overview

This vehicle is one of the best choices for people who want a hard performance kick packed in $25,000 package, making it much less expensive than some other cars from this class. It is developed by the cooperation of Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries, and it is sold under various nameplates around the world, from Toyota 86 to Subaru BRZ, adn of course Scion FR-S.

2016 Scion FR-S Exterior Styling

Same as in previous model years new FR-S s going to come in various styles and shapes. Sedan version is going to be the biggest with being 20 inch longer than the coupe and convertible. New hybrid version is going to come only as a sedan version. In addition to that sedan is going to be placed four inch higher than other two body styles. Convertible is going to come with the standard soft-top, FR-S is famous for.

2016 Scion FR-S Performance

Depending on the version you choose, your new FR-S might come with turbocharged engine or the combination of turbocharged engine and an electric motor. Regular coupe, sedan and convertible come with 2,0 liter engine for the Japanese market and 2,5 liter for the export markets, including United States. These engines are produced by Fuji Heavy Industries and are called Subaru BOXER engines, they are also direct injected and turbocharged and able to produce 295 horsepower. Hybrid version comes with combination of turbocharged engine in the rear and electric motor in the front with AWD traction. Unlike Hybrid regular versions come with a rear wheel drive. There’s no need of saying that hybrid models come with much better fuel efficiency.

2016 Scion FR-S Price and Release Date

Base version of Scion FR-S will cot around $25,000. We are talking about turbocharged version, while hybrid is going to cost much more than that. Its price is going to be at least $50,000, while the boosted turbocharged versions will cost around $40,000.

This vehicle is going to be presented soon and it is going to arrive in the showrooms in the beginning of 2016, accept the hybrid model which is scheduled to start it sales in American showrooms in October, 2016.
