Overview

Mazda CX-3 is a small SUV, it is a vehicle that’s part that was never sold in United States. Crises and gas prices changed a lot when on American car market and now this class is becoming increasingly popular, with four small SUVs debuting on the 2014 LA Auto Show. These include: Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, Fiat 500X and Honda HR-V.

this vehicle is smaller than a regular American crossover, and it is considered to be a subcompact vehicle, by US standards. It shares underpinnings with Mazda2 subcompact vehicle. This practice became really popular and it enables Mazda and other manufacturers to introduce new subcompact SUVs without some large investment in its design and therefore it lowers its price drastically.

2016 Mazda CX-3 Exterior styling

This vehicle’s exterior styling is similar to the one of the new Mazda 2 that still hasn’t been promoted on American markets, but it is sold in Japan under the Mazda Demio nameplate. To derive CX-3 from this subcompact car, Mazda engineers need to introduce some major changes and increase this vehicle’s size, body heights, add some larger wheels and of course an all wheel drive. Mazda CX-3 body is consisted of high-strength  and ultra high-strength steel, which is also very light weight, which adds up on this SUVs fuel efficiency.

New model comes with some cutting edge design features in the exterior section. One of these is “Kodo” which stands for “Soul of Motion”, This design concept includes trapezoidal grille, high waistline and sculpted fenders.

CX-3 headlights are redesigned and they come with LED elements. These new headlights are planned to become a Mazda brand, and are going to be introduced in Mazda 6 and CX-5, for the 2016 model year.

Interior

New model comes with the sculpted seats that we already seen in some other Mazda models, it has a slim dashboard and paired-down controls. Steering wheel design is also different and when it comes to features one of the most interesting updates is installment of first wheel slip warning detection system ever installed on a crossover.

2016 Mazda CX-3 Performance

New model comes with 2,0 litre four cylinder engine which is paired with six speed automatic transmission. Base version comes with front wheel drive, but there’s an all wheel drive available in the higher trim levels. This same engine is seen in Mazda 3, where it is able to produce 155 horsepower output and comes with 34 mpg of combined fuel efficiency.  It also comes with Skyactive fuel saving technology, so we can expect this model is going to be one of the most fuel efficient crossovers and SUVs on the market. If you choose CX-3 with all wheel drive you are going to get some really futuristic features with the new redesigned rear differential that is much smaller and lighter than the ones seen in CX-5 or some other crossovers.

Price

Price of this vehicle is going to be more than affordable, especially taking into consideration the underpinnings that it shares with other Mazda vehicles, which makes its development lest expensive. It is going to cost less then CX-5, which starts at $22,375.
