Overview

This is the second model of the second generation Genesis, it comes with redesigned engines, much better materials used inside the cabin, few more standard options, and more European influences in its exterior styling. This is also the first Genesis model that’s going to be sold in Europe.

Exterior

Second generation Genesis comes without the tiniest bits of original South Korean design features we’ve seen in previous generation, especially around the grille area. New model comes with hexagonal grille, with more detailed texturing, similar to the one we can find on Hyundai Sonata with a lot of Audi influences. From the profile, especially closer to the rear end, we can see a lot of BMW influences. This is not strange, since the new model represents the big mash-up of various luxury vehicle influences, from Lexus and Infiniti to Mercedes and Audi.

The front comes with a Genesis badge that replaces the Hyundai one, and it looks a lot a like Bentley badge. Did Hyundai designers wanted to mask this vehicle into a Bentley for the next year’s Halloween, or all this is made by accident we’ll never know. But one thing we do know, Genesis with all the new luxury features it comes with, looks more and more like Bentley.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Interior

2016 Hyundai Genesis interior is made out of much more premium materials than the one from the first generation vehicle. This vehicle can accommodate five passengers, and it offers a lot of leg and head room in both seat rows. Seats are comfortable and supportive and they come with leather upholstery in the base version. Some of the additional options concerning the seats are heating for both seat rows, ventilation for front row seats. Cabin’s comfort is increased with the new wind and road noise isolation, that works like a charm.

Base version comes with 8 inch infotainment touch screen display, Blue Link telematics, dual zone climate control, USB ports, seven speaker sound system and HD and satellite radio. Optional features go from power rear sun shade, panoramic sunroof, nice safety features pack with blind spot detection, automatic breaking etc. Lexicon sound system is also an additional option and buyers can choose between 14 and 17 speaker version.

Performance

New model comes with completely redesigned powertrain. It comes with a nice handling and four driving models provided by Intelligent Drive Mode System. In United States there are two engines to choose from. Base version comes with solid 3,8 litre V6 engine that is able to produce 311 horsepower, while the higher trim levels come with 5,0 litre V8 with 420 horsepower. Both engines are combined with eight speed automatic transmission, and base version comes with strong acceleration, and 18 mpg of fuel efficiency in city conditions and 29 mpg on the highway.

Price

Price of 2015 Hyundai Genesis go from $38,000 for the rear-wheel drive V6 trim, to $51,500 for the rear-wheel drive V8 trim level. Somewhere in the middle is the all-wheel drive V6, which can be bought for $40,000.
